Unit 2: The past

In this unit we are going to learn more about the past tense. 

In general, we use the past simple to express the past tense in English. An event in that tense happened before now and is always completed.

Let´s see how we use the past in this video: What did you do?



- As you can see in the video to form the past tense we usually add -ed to the end of most verbs. 



- But, we don´t add -ed to the end of all verbs in the past, because lot´s of verbs are irregular.


Some important  irregular verbs are: 



For the NEGATIVE (-) and INTERROGATIVE (?)  simple past form we used the auxiliary "did": 

Affirmative                                     Negative                                    Interrogative

I played (regular verb)                    I didn´t play                              Did you play?

He went (irregular verb)                 He didn´t go                              Did he go?
